RS2 mourns the death of Reinhold Schaeffter

It is with great sadness that the RS2 Group shares the news that the founder of RS2, Reinhold Schaeffter, passed away on March 22, 2021, at the age of 81 in Frankfurt.

Mr. Schaeffter was the brain and the architect behind BankWORKS® which he designed and developed 30 years ago. Mr. Schaeffter was a visionary entrepreneur, who managed to create a platform and made it available to small banks to issue and acquire cards, which 30 years ago was a game for only large banks. He was an international banker, who worked at American Express and enjoyed different positions globally.

Before his retirement in 2011, Mr. Schaeffter led the company with great dedication and skill, first as CEO and then as Chairman. Mr. Schaeffter devoted his entire life to the service of RS2 and leaves behind a unique and extraordinary life’s work.
