RS2 promotes ICT careers in collaboration with MITA and the eSkills Alliance
The Employment & Training Corporation (ETC) organised “Youth Days 2011” – a week dedicated to its Youth Employment Programme. This week filled with interactive workshops, entertainment, employment opportunities and more was organised between the 24th and 29th October 2011 at the Mediterranean Conference Centre in Valletta. The event was targeted towards youths who are interested in pursuing a career in a number of areas such as sports, IT, music or the arts, hospitality and different other trades.
RS2 was invited by the eSkills Alliance to join the Malta Information Technology Agency (MITA) on Thursday 27th October and give students the opportunity to discuss further detail with an RS2 professional about careers in ICT. Students could discuss directly the different types of career paths with Mr Robert Abela, who works in the Technology Unit at RS2 and has international ICT experience. Students were also given tips about what makes a good ICT candidate and how to prepare for the right career. RS2 also provided the students with careers and opportunities available at RS2.
5th form students from state and non-state schools were given information about different career paths one may opt for in the world of ICT such as; Software Developer, Web Developer, Games Developer, Software Engineer, Network Engineer, Technical Consultant, Business Analyst and IT Project Manager. The students were also exposed to IT courses that are available at the University of Malta and the MCAST ICT Institute.
The eSkills Alliance which was set up in October 2010 brings together key stakeholders of the ICT Industry, academia and Government to discuss and implement ICT awareness and educational programmes that reduce the skills gap in the ICT Industry.
