The situation:

 

Croatian Postal Bank (HPB) is operating in one of the most developed and very competitive card markets in the Central Eastern Europe.  In the last ten years, card business has shown a tremendous increase:
• number of cards increased 3.6 times
• number of ATMs increased 4.6 times
• number of EFTPOS terminals increased 9 times

In recent years growth has visibly slowed down while competition has become fiercer.

 

The challenge:

 

In order to offer competitive services to their customers, HPB requires a flexible solution that is able to cover both card issuing and card acquiring services. Success in this business environment depends on agility and innovation, i.e. speed in developing new solutions and the ability to offer new products to customers. HPB offers their services through their branches, a large network of post offices and a variety of direct channels. The direct channels include ATMs and an EFTPOS network located in more than 1000 post offices, branches of the National Financial Agency as well as merchant locations.
The solution:

With RS2’s Bankworks solution HSB now has in place a fully integrated system that is capable of handling on-line transactions and processing. This puts the bank in a position to meet the continuously changing market needs and challenges.

HSB is using the following Bankworks modules:

  • Cardholder Issuing system
  • PIN management
  • ATM acquiring system
  • ATM controller
  • POS acquiring system
  • Clearing and settlement system
  • General ledger and account interface
  • GSM electronic bill payment
